Carmarthenshire Land Sailing Club

About Us

Carmarthenshire Land Sailing Club was formed 7 years ago to regain, promote and maintain access for land sailing, including land traction kiting activities, on Cefn Sidan (Pembrey) and Pendine beaches.

Sitting either side of the Tywi estuary, Cefn Sidan and Pendine beaches are situated in a stunning part of South West Wales and offer some of the best conditions for land sailing and land traction kiting in the country. The sailing area at Cefn Sidan is over 5 miles long, the beach can be over a mile wide at low tide, and boasts hard packed sand along the entire beach. At Pendine, the sailing area is over 4 miles long and is mostly hard packed sand. This beach has an amazing history and a speed run on Pendine is the ultimate thrill.

As part of the access agreement, everyone taking part in land sailing and land traction kiting on Cefn Sidan (Pembrey) and Pendine must be a member of CLSC. You can find membership forms and our handbook in the Resources section, or if you have a query, please check out the ‘contact’ section where you’ll find the ways to talk to us.

Membership of the club offers far more than simply access to these two, incredible beaches. We also run 4 ‘club weekends’ through the year, camping in Pembrey Country Park and offering an opportunity to meet fellow kiters and land sailors in a social and friendly setting – the entire family is welcome and Pembrey Country Park offers plenty of other activities to keep the non-sailors happy. The club also offers basic training to new entrants to the sport, at no additional cost.
